What do you do to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your kiddos? I totally love being a mom and celebrating my kids big for holidays! We give the kids a few small gifts and something sweet, but I was looking for more. A few years ago a dear friend inspired me to step back in February and spend the 14 days leading in to Valentine’s day writing a note each day to my kids about what I love about them.
Man do I LOVE this challenge! As a mom, it’s easy to get bogged down in the day to day things – did you eat your breakfast? shoes on? water bottle? snacks? lunch? But to intentionally slow down and think about the amazing little people we are shepherding toward adulthood? Oh, that’s the real rich reward of motherhood! These kids are stinking amazing little world changers, you know?!
This year has looked a little different with prepping for Winnie’s first birthday and having family in town, so we are going to surprise the kids with a door full of love notes on Valentine’s Day! I’ve also struggled in the past to think on the spot of the things I adore about them, and wanting to continue to encourage them to grow in the Fruits of the Spirit (from Galatians 5:22-23), I’ve decided to pick things that I adore about them that reinforce how they are growing to be more and more like Jesus! The best compliment around here! And I figured you momma’s would want to do the same, so I’m including a FREE printable for you to use!
Free Printable: What I love about you {for your kid’s door}.
Here is your free printable (just save the photo and print!)! Here’s how I’ll be using it: the first page I’ll write their names on and tape to their door (just cut it in half). I might even use some fun washi tape, but don’t hold me to it! The next two pages you can print out, cut out, & tape them to their door as is, or add a special note in the heart of something they’ve done recently to embody that Fruit.
However you use them – tag me in your pix and let me know in the comments what you’ll be doing! I hope this is a great experience for you to get to know your kids and our Savior deeper!
We will also be giving the kids a few small gifts and treats – here are some of my favs, including these AMAZING buttery soft mommy – daughter pjs that we were gifted, but would have bought 1,000 times over!! They are so good! And my big girl and I both wear them as long as they are out of the wash! I love matching these kiddos!
xoxo
What a great idea from a great mom! Your 3 kids are incredible and I canβt wait to see what God has in store for them.
Thank you so much Mrs Donna! I feel so incredibly blessed to get to be their momma! Motherhood has been such a gift to me!
