Oh fall, how much I love you! And any excuse for layers and fall style – yes please! Living in South Florida, fall is a little bit like unicorns are for my daughter – we know it’s real, and every once in a while, we get to see it, and it totally restores our excitement in life!
Today we stopped to check in on a friend’s house and when we stepped outside my son said, it’s cold, right mommy? Sure buddy…we’ll call 72º with a breeze blissful perfect cold weather! Fall….it’s finally here!
Fall Fashion & New Motherhood
Are you loving fall and all its layers? And boots. Sweet boots! Boots hold a special place in my heart – after I had my son (my second), I didn’t feel like myself. My body didn’t rebound as quickly as it had with my first, and I was a single mom again – I wanted so badly to feel like “me” and I knew I needed to find ways to self care while taking care of my two little loves. Boots. And new skin care – but that’s another post. He was born in November (he’s almost 4 and still as sweet as the minute he first laid on my chest), so I quickly went to my closet and some affordable online shopping (I was a single mom – we lived on an exacting budget) to put together some great layering looks with cardis and tanks to nurse in and boots…sweet sweet boots! They made me feel like me again, they made me feel fashionable and beautiful no matter what direction my tummy or hips were heading that day or what my nursing boobs were deciding to look like (realllllly lopsided with him at one point – but that’s another story). I want you to feel that way. I want you to feel how truly beautiful you are. Recently I’ve looked back at those days and I see how much my kiddos love me and how they think I’m the “best mommy ever” even when I knew I was falling short in some way or another. But we are super women to them. So promise me today that you’ll throw on some boots and hold tight to the inner beauty that is so da** radiant in you?!

This sweater is super old and has been in the sell pile more than once. But I’m really glad I’ve kept it. And I keep almost buying sweaters that are basically exactly the same – the one thing about this I wish I could change is that it is wool – it would be more versatile and could wear longer, especially in Florida. The star of this outfit – Over the Knee (OTK) boots! I have wanted a pair for a while but have been slow to pull the trigger. Price was a factor – we’ve been on budget watch and hubs would have a heart attack 😂. These are under $40 on sale right now!!!
